Roman Reigns’ WWE Backstage Accusations Against Cody Rhodes Confirmed
Roman Reigns called Cody Rhodes a “politician” during their storied rivalry.
Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns, a feud that culminated at WrestleMania 40, was one of the most significant ones in modern wrestling.
During the feud, both men traded verbal barbs that blurred the line between fiction and reality, sometimes getting very personal while taking shots at each other.
One such instance during the feud was Roman Reigns accusing Cody Rhodes of being a “politician”, alluding to the fact that Rhodes politicks backstage in WWE.
However, the American Nightmare said on a recent episode of his podcast, What Do You Wanna Talk About?, that he didn’t take the insult personally despite Reigns comparing Rhodes to someone constantly “kissing babies and shaking hands.
He acknowledged that politics are prevalent in the business, and he knows best since he grew up in it as the son of WWE Legend Dusty Rhodes.
Roman Reigns called me a politician one time, and I remember thinking, ‘I’m not mad at that.’ I grew up in the business. Everyone is, to a degree.
To me, there is politics and posturing, and then there is snaking and backstabbing.
He then pointed at his guest, Gunther, and stated that the Ring General’s best quality is that he is a straight shooter.
One of the great things about you [Gunther] as a peer and as a wrestler in the locker room, just straight up. I think a lot of guys on our modern roster are straight up. ‘This is what I think is better. This is what I think isn’t. Let’s talk about it.’ Someone is going to make a decision, but the opinion has been weighed.
You can smell when you get around the ones today, ‘This is going to be really good for you,’ and you can already tell, ‘No, it’s not. I can tell it’s not even for me.
Roman Reigns Insults CM Punk On Raw
Roman Reigns is set to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 42 after winning the Royal Rumble match in January.
The pair have had two heated promo segments on Raw, the latest one of which was on this past Monday’s episode.
Reigns mocked Punk, saying WWE had brought him back to entertain the 30 and 40-year-old virgins living in their mother’s basement and that being a champion is way above his pay grade.
Reigns ended by saying that he and WWE will milk all they can out of Punk and then send him into retirement and to NXT, where he can train new people, only for Reigns to destroy them, too.
Punk was furious and took a below-the-belt jab at Reigns, saying that he’ll bury him at WrestleMania 42 next to his late father.
