Mercedes Martinez will put the ROH Women’s Title on the line against Athena at the ROH Final Battle pay-per-view.

The ROH Women’s World Championship was created in September 2021 with Rok-C as the initial champion. Rok-C is now in WWE NXT using the name Roxanne Perez. Deonna Purrazzo was the second ROH Women’s Champion in January 2022. Soon after that, Tony Khan purchased AEW.

Mercedes Martinez has been the ROH Women’s since the April 1st, 2022, Supercard of Honor XV pay-per-view. However, that was just an interim title. Martinez became the ROH Women’s Champion officially when she beat Purrazzo on the May 4th edition of Dynamite and has held the title for over 200 days since then.

Final Battle will be the third pay-per-view since AEW’s Owner/President Tony Khan purchased the company in March 2022. They have run two pay-per-views since then with Supercard of Honor event on April 1st and Death Before Dishonor on July 23rd.

The AEW Twitter account announced the match officially while Athena tweeted about how she was ready to go especially since Final Battle is in her hometown of Dallas. If Athena wins, it would be her first championship win since joining AEW.

The lineup for ROH Final Battle looks like this on December 10th in Dallas:

* ROH World Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli – If Castagnoli loses, he will have to join the Jericho Appreciation Society

* Pure Wrestling Rules match for the ROH Pure Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta

* ROH Women’s World Championship: Mercedes Martinez (c) vs. Athena

Final Battle is available for purchase on pay-per-view.
