More details have emerged on WWE star Ludwig Kaiser’s arrest yesterday.

Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, is a German wrestler, signed with WWE since 2017. He is known for his previous stint alongside Gunther as part of the Imperium faction on NXT as well as the main roster.

The initial reports of his arrest did not reveal much other than that he was arrested on charges of battery, and, as speculated by some fans, it was not a domestic dispute.

Ludwig Kaiser has been performing under the El Grande Americano gimmick, which he took over from Chad Gable after the latter sustained a legitimate injury.

While he is assigned to the Raw brand, Kaiser also made numerous appearances on AAA Lucha Libre, where he is involved in a rivalry with the “Original” El Grande Americano (Chad Gable).

The duo is set to clash in a Mask vs. Mask match at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30 in Monterrey, Mexico. The match is arguably one of the biggest in Barthel’s career, but his arrest might see dark clouds form over it.

Incident Of Battery Involving Ludwig Kaiser Occurred In April

Details of Ludwig Kaiser’s arrest became public after pictures of the warrant surfaced online.

The complainant is called Richard Reap, who claimed that he entered an elevator around 6:30 PM and stumbled into Kaiser, who was with a woman. In the report, he stated that the couple was getting “uncontrollably intimate,” which prompted him to tell them to “please have some manners.”

The report did not clarify if the woman was Andrea Bazarte, whom Marcel Barthel has been dating since last year.

Reap further said that Barthel punched him several times, even pushing him to the ground and threatening him with more violence.

The police also noted that the victim had a scratch on the back of his head and redness that was consistent with his altercation with the WWE star.

After the police arrested Ludwig Kaiser as a suspect, Richard Reap identified him in a photo lineup. The warrant further specified that the allegations did not involve intoxication or the use of firearms.

Meanwhile, Kaiser was bonded out of Orange County Corrections in Orlando on $1,000 bail.

Marcel Barthel Has Pleaded Not Guilty

According to a report by Ringside News, Marcel Barthel is determined to push back against the battery charge by pleading not guilty.

Barthel, who is called Ludwig Kaiser in the wrestling circle, has also waived arraignment, which means he will not have to personally appear in court for a standard hearing.

Another report by PWInsider claimed that Barthel was in Mexico on May 19 when he learnt about the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by Orange County. The 35-year-old immediately flew back to the States, where he surrendered in front of the authorities.

Meanwhile, his lawyers have urged the court to permit the WWE superstar to travel internationally, as he is set to compete in Mexico at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30.
