Report: The Revival Were Offered Huge Deals To Re-Sign With WWE

TJR Wrestling

The wrestling landscape has changed in 2019 thanks to the big money deals that WWE signed with Fox and USA Network last year for their TV deals that start in October 2019. Those deals are worth over $2 billion over the next five years, which means WWE is in a position to pay more money to their superstars and when a superstar’s contract comes up, they can probably expect a raise because WWE can afford it.

In addition to that, the presence of All Elite Wrestling being able to pay big money contracts to the likes of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and others means that current wrestlers have options about what they want to do in the future. It also seems like there is more news about wrestler contracts than ever before and today, we learned about a new big money offer to current WWE stars.

The Revival duo of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have reportedly received a big offer from WWE to remain in the company, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful. The deals are apparently for five years and would pay Dawson and Wilder each around $500,000 per year. Sapp noted that apparently The Revival haven’t accepted the deal as far as he knows, but they are meeting with WWE management today about it.

Back in January, there were stories about The Revival asking WWE to release them. Their requests for a release were denied by WWE. Since then, they went on to win the Raw Tag Team Titles for the first time and WWE has made an effort to try to improve the tag team division as well.

Dawson (who is 34 years old) and Wilder (who is 31 years old) have been a tag team since they signed with WWE NXT in 2014. They are two-time NXT Tag Team Champions and one time Raw Tag Team Champions.

TJR Thoughts: It’s a lot of money if that offer is true and I’m not saying it is incorrect. However, whenever there are stories of money being thrown around, I question it a bit because I find it odd that somebody would tell a reporter about a contract that somebody else is being offered. In pro sports, we might hear about stuff like that, but it’s rare in wrestling. Plus, contracts work differently in wrestling because they have downside guarantees, plus you get more money for working live events, there are merchandise bonuses and so on. I’m just saying there are more to wrestler contracts than saying it’s about X amount of dollars.

The reason I shared a pic with #FTR shirts is because that’s something The Young Bucks used to do as a joke to say #FuckTheRevival and then The Revival turned it into #ForeverTheRevival, so you could say FTR has two meanings for the WWE tag team duo.
