Real Reason Why Title Match At WWE WrestleMania 42 Was Cut Short
A major championship match at WWE WrestleMania 42 was cut short, and there is a new report on why.
The two-night edition of WrestleMania 42 is in the books, and many fans are reacting to both nights. The consensus seems to be that Sunday was much better than Saturday.
On WrestleMania Saturday, which had seven matches compared to six on Sunday, many fans complained that matches were too short and that 4-minute commercial breaks filled too much of the nearly 4-hour broadcast.
One of the big title matches on WrestleMania Saturday was between the WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer and the Women’s Royal Rumble winner, Liv Morgan.
It was a match full of action right away, with many nearfalls for both women. Unfortunately for Vaquer, Morgan’s Judgment Day allies Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez made their presence felt at ringside.
Even though Vaquer hit a cross body block off the top on Raquel and Perez at ringside, it allowed Morgan to send Vaquer into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Morgan jumped off the top with a Codebreaker knee attack on Vaquer. After Vaquer went up against the ropes, Morgan hit Oblivion for the second time for the pinfall win to become the new Women’s World Champion.
The highly anticipated match lasted only 8:55, even though many fans likely wanted it to go up to 15 minutes or longer.
A report from Bodyslam+ noted that Morgan and Vaquer were dealing with injuries going into the WrestleMania 42 match, so WWE likely wanted to keep it shorter. That way, neither woman would get further injured on the biggest show of the year.
Morgan entered the match with scars on her forehead and face from a backstage segment collision with Perez, which was caused by a Vaquer push from behind.
Liv Morgan Continues To Live Her WWE Dreams
By winning the Women’s World Title at WrestleMania 42, Liv Morgan continues her incredible run over the last three years. That title win means she is now a 3-time Women’s World Champion.
In an interview before WrestleMania, Morgan talked about living her WWE dreams and how her family reacts to her success.
It literally makes me cry. No, you know, I think that was always like my hopes and my dreams, but growing up in a family with no money, no connections, [WWE] feels very much like pipe dreams, like things that you typically are not going to be able to accomplish.
When you look at my life on paper, I shouldn’t be in the WWE. I shouldn’t be filming for the cover of PAPER Magazine. And yeah, I wake up every single day with pinch-me moments, feeling blessed and just so grateful for the things I get to do in this life.
My family thinks it’s so insane. You know what I mean? Like, WWE was all of our dreams. Now they’re going to go to WrestleMania and hopefully watch me become the new Women’s World Champion.
