Every WWE superstar has their own story, but Liv Morgan’s is one of the most heartbreaking ones.

Morgan has revealed that she lost her father before she was even born. He passed away at the kitchen table in front of the family after suffering a heart attack.

Following the demise of her father, her family was in a horrible state for years. Her mother had to raise her and her five siblings (four older brothers and one sister) entirely on her own.

Her situation at home used to be so bad that they struggled to afford even basic necessities like new clothes or cable TV. At times, the household even went without food.

While describing her childhood in past interviews, Liv Morgan has revealed that she and her siblings used to have their own matches in a homemade backyard ring, where she would take pedigrees and powerbombs from her older brothers.

She has described WWE Hall of Famer Lita as one of her inspirations. When Morgan watched WWE for the first time around age five, a fire lit inside her, and she promised herself to become a successful pro wrestler to save her family from poverty.

Liv Morgan Recalls Growing Up in Poverty, Calls WWE Journey A “Dream”

In a new interview with PAPER Magazine, Liv Morgan was asked about her backyard wrestling with her brothers and whether she had ever imagined that it would lead her to become a WWE superstar one day. Morgan replied that sometimes she still struggles to register that she has actually become a WWE star because of her miserable childhood.

She feels like she is literally living a dream and is very grateful for her success. She added that she is very happy that her family is going to watch her wrestle at WrestleMania this year, and hopefully get to see her become the new WWE Women’s World Champion.

Question: Do you think little you, fighting with her older brothers in the backyard, could have ever imagined the heights that Liv Morgan has reached today?

Liv Morgan: It literally makes me cry. No, you know, I think that was always like my hopes and my dreams, but growing up in a family with no money, no connections, [WWE] feels very much like pipe dreams, like things that you typically are not going to be able to accomplish.

When you look at my life on paper, I shouldn’t be in the WWE. I shouldn’t be filming for the cover of PAPER Magazine. And yeah, I wake up every single day with pinch-me moments, feeling blessed and just so grateful for the things I get to do in this life.

My family thinks it’s so insane. You know what I mean? Like, WWE was all of our dreams. Now they’re going to go to WrestleMania and hopefully watch me become the new Women’s World Champion.
