Paul Heyman Breaks Character To Issue Major Statement After WWE SmackDown
Paul Heyman backs up Lil Yachty following the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
In the past few weeks, Yachty’s involvement in WWE has shifted from a one-off guest appearance to a recurring on-screen alliance with Trick Williams. He accompanied Williams during his United States Championship victory over Sami Zayn.
On the April 24 episode of SmackDown, Lil Yachty and Trick Williams were celebrating the title win when they were ambushed by Sami Zayn, who was disguised as a gingerbread man mascot.
Yachty’s growing involvement in WWE has drawn criticism from fans, with many calling out what they see as excessive celebrity participation in storylines. Amid the backlash online, Paul Heyman stepped in to defend Lil Yachty by issuing a strong statement on Twitter.

The WWE Universe has also been critical of other celebrity involvement in the storylines. Fans were reportedly frustrated when Pat McAfee was revealed as the “voice” in Randy Orton’s head during his high-stakes feud with Cody Rhodes.
Some reports also indicate that Jelly Roll could potentially team up with Rhodes against Orton. His rumored involvement in the Rhodes vs. Orton feud heading into the upcoming Backlash event has sparked further debate, with some fans criticizing that he does not belong in the wrestling ring.
Another example of fan backlash toward celebrity crossovers came with Travis Scott’s involvement at WrestleMania 41, where he interfered in the main event and cost Cody Rhodes the Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena. Fans were thoroughly disappointed with the angle.
