Paige’s return to WWE had her fans thrilled, but there was a lot that went on behind the scenes in order for it to happen.

Paige (Saraya-Jade Bevis) returned to WWE at WrestleMania 42 and took Nikki Bella’s place alongside Nikki’s twin sister Brie in a fatal four-way tag team contest for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Nikki Bella injured her ankle a few weeks ago on Raw and wasn’t medically cleared to compete. She was seen walking with a crutch and wearing an ankle brace when the Bellas’ entrance music hit at WrestleMania 42, and they came out to the ramp. Nikki then announced that she couldn’t perform in the match and instead had someone replace her.

That person turned out to be former WWE Women’s Champion Paige, who was working with AEW, where her contract expired in September 2025. She made her way to the ring to a loud pop and put on a show alongside Brie, eventually winning the match and the Tag Team Titles for her team.

The WWE Universe was happy with her return, and her winning gold in her first match back was the icing on the cake for her fans. But the process that went into getting Paige back to WWE was multi-layered, and Saraya recently revealed how it all happened during her recent appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast What’s Your Story?

Her return was facilitated by a few big names. Jelly Roll, Bunnie XO, who is Paige’s close friend and The Rock’s agent, Brad Slater, were all instrumental in her path back to the Stamford-based promotion, she revealed.

Paige’s Return Was Helped By Jelly Roll, The Rock’s Agent, And Bunnie XO

Saraya revealed to Stephanie that her close friend Bunnie XO texted her when she was in LA doing her book tour, asking her to come on her live podcast.

Let me tell you the story of how it came to be, because it involves Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO. One of my best friends is Bunnie—I love that woman so much, we are very, very close. She was doing her book tour, she was doing her live podcast, she was in LA, so she texted me and was like, ‘Can you come on?’ I was like, ‘Absolutely.’

When she went to meet Bunnie Brad Slater, The Rock’s agent, was there, and musician Jelly Roll, too. Jelly Roll encouraged her to return, and Slater called WWE President Nick Khan to make it happen.

And I go down there and it’s Brad Slater, so that’s Dwayne’s agent… Jelly was like, ‘What the f***—when are you gonna bring it back? Give a call to your guy.’ And Brad was like, ‘Do you want to come back?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I would love to come back.’ And then he was like, ‘Alright, let me make a call.’ So he calls Nick Khan, and within 30 minutes Nick had said, ‘Sure, let’s get a meeting with her.’
