Gunther may have a huge hill to climb at WWE SummerSlam.

The Ring General has solidified his status as a career-killer over the past several months, retiring WWE legends Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles.

Meanwhile, The Beast Incarnate has squashed The Never Seen 17 and led his WarGames team to victory since his comeback last August. He is now set to fight Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42.

Gunther Vs. Oba Femi At WWE SummerSlam?

Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts predicted that The Ruler will come out on top in his clash with Brock Lesnar.

While Gunther’s WrestleMania plans are yet to be revealed, Roberts suggested The Ring General could end up facing Oba Femi at this year’s SummerSlam.

The 42-year-old even proposed that The Nigerian Giant become the first WWE star to beat the former World Heavyweight Champion in nearly a year. Gunther’s last defeat in singles competition took place last August at SummerSlam against CM Punk.

I’m very very curious, intrigued, and the like to see what happens with Gunther at WrestleMania. But, you know, I don’t think Gunther should simply be defined as somebody who kills careers. You know what I mean?

I don’t think he should just be the retirement match guy because I love the idea of Oba Femi beating Brock at WrestleMania and then continuing this build and then continuing this build and by the time we get to August, May, June, July. By the time we get to August, our next stadium show, we get Oba vs. Gunther. And If you’ve got Oba beating Brock and then Oba being the first guy since the Cena match, I should say, who’s beaten Gunther, now you’ve got a real opportunity to keep building. [1:01:41 onwards]
