Gunther’s WWE WrestleMania Plans In Doubt After Sudden Injury

Gunther’s directions for WrestleMania 42 were set, but an unfortunate injury has now raised concerns over whether or not The Ring General will be on the match card at all.

The Ring General’s last WWE appearance was on the March 2nd, 2026 episode of Monday Night RAW.

He went up against Dragon Lee, which was supposed to set up a match against Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.

Gunther might not be at WrestleMania 42 owing to Rey Mysterio’s injury

On January 26th, 2026, Rey Mysterio worked a match against Austin Theory. In that match, he fractured both his right and left ribs. However, he worked the Royal Rumble men’s match with that injury.

Mysterio has not been on WWE TV since Royal Rumble 2026.

According to Bodyslam, unless he returns to WWE TV, Gunther might not be a part of WrestleMania 42. Apart from the match against Rey Mysterio, The Ring General doesn’t have any other direction for The Grandest Stage of All.

Previously, the former World Heavyweight Champion has retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles. He has earned the name ‘Career Killer’, and is one of the dominant forces in WWE when he’s on TV.
