The NXT Men’s and Women’s Champions have many wrestlers circling them, looking to challenge them for their titles, but haven’t yet found the one person they’ll face next.

Robert Stone, the General Manager of the brand, decided to put an end to it last week after he announced two major number one contender matches for tonight, which will determine the challengers for the Men’s and Women’s titles.

Both matches took place back-to-back on WWE NXT tonight, with Naraku defeating Mason Rook in the first of the two matches, confirming him as Tony D’Angelo’s next challenger at the Great American Bash.

The men’s number one contender’s match was followed up by the women’s one, which saw Kelani Jordan take on Kendal Grey, who didn’t have an injured Wren Sinclair in her corner this time.

NXT Women’s Championship number one contender confirmed

The two women faced off against each other a few weeks back, where Jordan picked up the win after Kendal was distracted by Wren being attacked on the outside. Grey started the match on the front foot, but Kelani quickly took control of the match.

Kelani had put in a dominant effort tonight and was on top of Kendal for much of the match. Grey ultimately came back into the match with a couple of blows to Jordan and a huge Snap Suplex.

Jordan sustained Kendal’s flurry of suplexs and then hit her with a Springboard cutter and followed it up with a Five Star Frog Splash, but only got a two count. Both women then had a lot of back and forth as they traded submissions and pinning combinations.

Kelani was going for another huge move, but Kendal reversed her attempt and hit the Shades of Grey to pick up the win and become the new number one contender for Lola Vice’s NXT Women’s Title.
