“Not Good” MJF Segment Pulled From AEW Dynamite

MJF

AEW World Champion MJF is normally a master of the microphone on television but a segment of his on Dynamite didn’t live up to its usual quality.

MJF has every reason to be on edge as at Double Or Nothing on May 28th he will put his AEW World Championship on the line against Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, and Jungle Boy Jack Perry.

All three of MJF’s challengers were in action on Dynamite in Austin, Texas but when Perry was being attacked by La Faccion Ingobernable after he defeated Rush, it was Allin and Guevara who came to his aid as there looks to be some sort of respect and pact to ensure whoever wins at Double Or Nothing, the champion doesn’t leave with his gold.

A very nervous MJF was shown watching backstage and when Renee Paquette tried to interview him, he slapped the microphone out of her hand. But that wasn’t the original plan.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that originally all four men in the title match were to be a part of the backstage segment as well as Dr. Britt Baker DMD. The promo was to end with Baker noting that it didn’t matter who won at Double Or Nothing as they wouldn’t hold the title long Bay Bay – an obvious allusion to Adam Cole potentially being the next challenger.

The report notes that something about that segment was “deemed not good” and instead of trying it again, it was changed to what aired with MJF saying nothing.
