NJPW Star Compares Tony Khan To Toy Story Character

AEW Tony Khan

Tony Khan isn’t exactly winning friends in NJPW.

On January 5th, 2025, Wrestle Dynasty will come live from the Tokyo Dome just 24 hours after Wrestle Kingdom 19. The huge never event will feature wrestlers from NJPW, Stardom, AEW, ROH, and CMLL.

On the show, IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay will be in action despite having little love for AEW or Tony Khan. The star has openly and repeatedly taken shots at both, even claiming he wanted to fight Khan in a Cage Match.

In an interview posted by NJPW on the company’s YouTube channel, Finlay responded to claims he’s anti-AEW with an unusual insult aimed at Khan.

“I’m not anti-anybody. I’m just pro me. Now, Tony’s problem is that he’s Iike that kid in ‘Toy Story’, the one that lives next door, with all the toys that he’s discarded around the property because he got bored with them. That’s Tony Khan. Whereas I am a collector of talent. I’m a nurturer of talent.

I am so not versus AEW that I have stocked their main event scene for years to come. I am that great of a talent scout that I have sent AEW all their best wrestlers while developing New Japan’s best wrestlers here simultaneously. I am just the greatest, aren’t I?”

Gabe Kidd Blasts “F*cking Idiot” Tony Khan

The comments from Finlay come after Gabe Kidd launched his own verbal assault on Tony Khan, branding the AEW boss a “f*cking idiot.” During the foul-mouthed rant, Kidd said he “doesn’t give a sh*t” if AEW wants to sign him because he’s got no interest in being sent to catering to do “f*ck all” after having a couple of matches on Dynamite.

Kidd is set to stand across the ring from Kenny Omega when the Best Bout Machine resumes his career at Wrestle Dynasty. The match was made official after Kidd attacked Omega at Power Struggle, leading to the pair exchanging insults during interviews.

At the cross-promotional event at the Tokyo Dome, Finlay will face Brody King, while the likes of Willow Nightingale, The Young Bucks, Zack Sabre Jr. Konosuke Takeshita, and more will all be in action.
