NJPW Star Earns Shot At All-Atlantic Title

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Belt

A top NJPW star has secured his spot in the four-way match for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship at Forbidden Door.

At New Japan Road on 21st June 2022 which took place at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Clark Connors took on Tomohiro Ishii to determine who the NJPW representative would be in the contest for the newly-established championship.

In a back and forth contest, Ishii picked up the win following a lariat and a brainbuster, confirming his spot in the match taking place on Sunday 26th June at The United Centre in Chicago.

There is still one spot available in the match for the All-Atlantic Championship, with Malakai Black and Penta Oscuro set to do battle on this Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite.

On the Road Rager edition of Dynamite, Miro stamped his card for the final of the eight-man tournament when he defeated ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page via submission. He’s also joined in the final by Pac, who eliminated Buddy Matthews from the tournament.

The inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Championship match is one of the flagships contests on Forbidden Door, which also includes a number of crossover matches with NJPW including the likes of Jon Moxley vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay vs. Orange Cassidy, and Chris Jericho, Minoru Suzuki & Sammy Guevara vs. Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta & Shota Umino.
