Why did Britt Baker miss AEW Dynamite?

Britt Baker was back in the news following the November 29th episode of Dynamite after seemingly criticising AEW on social media. The former Women’s Champion pointed out that MJF and Christian Cage had been given seven and ten minutes of promo time respectively, while she hadn’t been given a promo segment all year.

In fact, not only was Baker absent from Dynamite, but she hasn’t been featured on AEW television since September.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that illness kept Baker from Dynamite on the 29th, although she’s still dealing with a long-standing back injury.

“Baker missed the Pittsburgh show due to an illness that didn’t allow her to travel. Apparently a number of talents were sick that week to the point Tony Khan at the show both before and after told the fans that several people were sick and told the fans how much he appreciated their support and Khan after the show stayed and took photos with every kid until long after the show was over.

Baker has been bothered by a bad back as well, which she’s been dealing with for a long time, which is why she put some people over and hasn’t been around much of late.”

Britt Baker Confirmed Back Injury Back In March

Speaking in an interview back in March, Britt Baker revealed she was struggling with both neck and back injuries. The former Women’s World Champion said the problems were getting worse but described them as “manageable.”

Baker last wrestled on AEW television on September 16th, when she challenged Kris Statlander for the TBS Title. After wrestling somewhat sparingly earlier in the year, Baker competed regularly from May onwards.
