New Women’s Tag Team Champions Crowned On WWE Raw

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship belts

The second reign of Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan didn’t last long, as new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned on Raw.

Having originally won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in April, that reign lasted just over a month before the duo were forced to vacate the belts due to a shoulder injury suffered by Liv Morgan. The trail back to the titles wasn’t straightforward with Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey picking up the belts at the end of May. However, Morgan and Rodriguez were finally able to get back to the top at Money In The Bank in the United Kingdom.

Just two weeks later on the 17th July 2023 edition of Monday Night Raw, the title holders put their gold on the line against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville. The match was based around the challengers keeping out Raquel Rodriguez, whilst isolating Liv Morgan and working over her knee. Despite a valiant attempt at rallying towards the end of the match, a second Unpretty-Her from Green followed by a running knee from Deville was enough for the three count and new champions to be crowned.

Capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships marks the first gold for both Deville and Green in WWE, with the latter now in her second stint with the company. Also on Monday Night Raw, Brock Lesnar finally accepted Cody Rhodes’ challenge for a trilogy match at SummerSlam.
