Montez Ford Names Who He Wants To Defend US Title Against
Montez Ford wants the smoke and also knows who he wants to defend the US Title against if he happens to win it at Elimination Chamber.
The Street Profits tag team of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have been one of the most successful teams in WWE over the last five years.
While The Street Profits were not NXT Tag Team Champions, they have had a lot of success on the main WWE roster as Smackdown and Raw Tag Team Champions. There might be teases of The Street Profits splitting up some day to give Ford and Dawkins a chance to break out as singles stars, but for now, they remain a cohesive unit.
On the February 6th edition of Raw, Angelo Dawkins lost to Damian Priest in a qualifying match for the US Title match at Elimination Chamber. However, Montez Ford picked up the win in his match against Elias.
That win by Ford means he gets to challenge Austin Theory for the US Title in an Elimination Chamber Match at Elimination Chamber that will also include Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed, Seth “Freakin” Rollins and the aforementioned Priest.
In an interview with Rick Ucchino of “Bleav in Pro Wrestling,” Ford said he told Dawkins that if Ford wins the US Title then he wants to defend it against his tag team partner.
“This week when I was talking to him, I told him, I said, ‘Look, man, going ham in the Chamber, and I’m gonna go so ham to the point I have that much utmost confidence in ability in myself that I will walk out as champion.’ I said, ‘It’s always about us.’ So, I said, ‘Since it’s always about us when I win the Elimination Chamber, you’ll be the first person [to get a title shot].'”
