MJF recently made a bold comparison of himself with these WWE legends

Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) is as cocky and confident as they come. He is the current AEW World Champion, winning the title at the business end of 2025 at AEW World’s End by beating Samoa Joe, Hangman Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland in a four-way bout.

He is well known for his trash-talking skills on the mic and is also quite quick-witted. The Salt Of The Earth is never shy of considering himself amongst the greatest wrestlers ever, and in a recent interview, demonstrated this trait.

MJF Says He Is A Mix Of WWE Legends Roddy Piper And Ric Flair

Speaking to WDW News, Friedman addressed fans’ comparisons of his character to Roddy Piper and Ric Flair, making him an amalgam of both legends.

When the host brought up Roddy Piper’s name on the subject of the king of trash talk, MJF was quick to inject himself into the conversation. He claimed that his mic skills are like Piper’s and his presentation is like Flair’s.

A lot of wrestling fans do say this to this day—they feel like I’m kind of a like a mixed bag between Piper and Flair.

The way I talk—it’s very Piperesque. And the way I present myself, people feel is very Flairesque.

Friedman went on to reveal that people have already started getting inspired by him, mimicking his clothing style.

There are little things I’m noticing little kids are doing to emulate me… They’re saying ‘bud,’ they’re rocking the Burberry scarf, they’re rocking the three-piece suit, they’re rocking the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

In the January 14th episode of AEW: Dynamite, Friedman successfully defended his AEW World Championship against Bandido.
