Mickie James has made it clear she wants to face Mercedes Mone in a singles match and thinks that Impact Wrestling is the place to do it.
When it comes to the most decorated women’s wrestling champions in the last 20 years, Mickie James and Mercedes Mone (formerly Sasha Banks in WWE) are two women that have done a lot. As Sasha Banks, Mercedes won six Women’s Titles on the WWE main roster prior to her WWE departure in May 2022.
As for James, she is a former six-time WWE Women’s Champion and she’s also a five-time Knockouts Champion in Impact Wrestling. Mickie recently won the Knockouts Title for a fifth time at Hard To Kill when she beat Jordynne Grace in a match where Mickie’s career was on the line.
During her second run in WWE from 2017 to 2021, Mickie wrestled as a teammate of Banks at times and also on opposite sides, but the two future Hall of Famers never got to compete in a singles match.
In a recent interview with SEScoops, James talked about being excited for Banks while also suggesting a match between them.
“I’m excited for her. The world is her oyster. She can literally do whatever she wants. I think any company would benefit from having her on their roster. She’s a star. The fact that she doesn’t need to be on a roster because she could go act or she could go do a lot of things, it shows that she has a genuine passion for wrestling, and she’s great.”
“I’ve never had a singles match with Sasha. I would really, really love to have a singles match with Mercedes. I love her. I have so much love and respect for her. I think she’s incredible. I’m excited to watch her journey, I really am. I’m excited because I feel like she has an opportunity now to do it her way, and she wanted to a lot of things, and now she gets to go do them.”
“She can go test herself against whoever she wants to and show up everywhere. That’s what I hope, she shows up everywhere. Come on over to IMPACT.”
