A WWE Hall of Famer denied the rumors of his return to the company. The legend in question is the former SmackDown GM, Teddy Long.

Teddy Long is known for his time in WCW and WWE in the 1990s, 2000s, and early 2010s. While Teddy has wrestled in some matches in the past, he gained prominence as the beloved General Manager of SmackDown in the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut. Teddy was also inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2017 for his contributions.

The last time Teddy Long made an appearance on WWE TV was during the draft in 2023. Meanwhile, there were some rumors circulating that Teddy would be making his return as the General Manager of SmackDown soon. However, the Hall of Famer has denied the rumors.

WWE legend on the rumors of his return

Speaking on Road Trip After Hours with Mac Davis, the WWE legend, Teddy Long stated that he laughed out at the rumors of his potential return as the SmackDown GM and revealed that the Stamford-based promotion has not contacted him yet:

Have no idea. I know nothing about it. WWE has not contacted me, called me, or anything. I don’t know… whoever started that, I appreciate you thinking about me, playa. I just start laughing because I know that ain’t going to happen.”

Teddy Long further reflected on the possibility of him working with WWE in today’s time and compared it to back in the day:

It’s not like it used to be. There ain’t no live events, much now anyways, so I wouldn’t be on the road, just do TV. But I’m at home, I sleep in my own bed almost every night. I love going out and doing the signings. I was in Vegas for Wrestle Con. I’ll be in Minneapolis for Summerslam. I’ll be there for the signings. I just enjoy doing those, man. And getting on the plane and going home”

Teddy Long concluded that he has taken the cape off and thanked Vince McMahon while confirming that his WWE return will not happen:

I’m not one of these guys that don’t know when to take the cape off. I know when to take the cape off. I had a great run. Thanks to God and Vince McMahon. I ain’t bitter about a thing. That ain’t gonna happen, they ain’t calling me.” [h/t Sportskeeda Wrestling]

Only time will tell if Teddy Long will ever be seen again on WWE TV.
