Kris Statlander Dethroned As AEW Women’s World Champion In Wild Dynamite Finish
The main event of AEW Dynamite saw Kris Statlander defend her Women’s World Championship against the Toxic Spider, Thekla, in a strap match after the two women had been at each other’s throats for weeks.
Thekla and the Triangle of Madness have been targeting Kris Statlander for the last few weeks and even got the pin on the AEW Women’s World Champion during a trios match.
The Toxic Spider faced Statlander a couple of weeks back for the championship as well, but was unsuccessful in dethroning the champion. Along with the Triangle of Madness, they attacked Kris during a backstage interview with a strap, leading to tonight’s match.
Thekla becomes the new AEW Women’s World Champion
The match became brutal right from the start as both women didn’t hesitate to use the strap on each other. Kris Statlander was busted open early into the match and was wrestled most of the match with a crimson mask.
Thekla dominated most of the match and was in control for large parts of the fight before Statlander made her way back in the match somehow. She turned the tide on the Toxic Spider by using the strap against her and came close to retaining the title a couple of times.

Just when Statlander got back into the match, the Triangle of Madness came to Thekla’s help. With the Babes of Wrath already in Australia, Kris had no backup and that cost her the match.
She took out both Skye Blue and Julia Hart with the strap but Thekla used it to her advantage as she speared Kris and tied her hands behind her back with the strap. She then hit Statlander with the Stomp to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion.
