Konnan Confirms Issues Between AEW Tag Team

Konnan

Konnan has appeared to confirm that real-life issues between an AEW tag team could lead to them disbanding soon.

It has been suggested over recent months that Santana and Ortiz have not been getting along outside the squared circle. Before joining AEW in 2019, the pair had teamed together for over a decade on the independent scene and later in IMPACT Wrestling.

Santana has seemingly already been putting plans in place to go it alone away from his partner. He has been taking independent bookings to compete in singles competition, and hasn’t had a two-on-two tag match alongside Ortiz since February 2022. In addition to this, he tweeted in April “126”, an indication of how long was left on his AEW, something he followed up on recently by simply saying “soon”.

Speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan, who knows both men well, seemed to confirm the speculation by noting that “they are not on good terms”.

The last AEW appearance for both Santana and Ortiz was at Blood And Guts on 29th June where the pair were successful inside the steel structure, teaming with Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston and Wheeler Yuta to defeat The Jericho Appreciation Society.

During the contest, Santana landed awkwardly and injured his knee. Since then, Tony Khan has confirmed that the injury could keep him out of action for an extended period of time.
