Kenny Omega Likely To Receive Championship Match Soon

Kenny Omega is no stranger to gold in pro wrestling and he could be receiving a major championship match soon.

All Elite Wrestling fans know that Kenny Omega is a man that has won a lot of championships. During his AEW career so far, Omega has been an AEW World Champion, AEW Tag Team Champion, and a two-time AEW Trios Tag Team Champion as well. In addition to that, Omega is the current NJPW/IWGP US Champion.

Earlier this year on the March 22nd edition of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega competed in a match that the company billed as a “Dream Match” when he faced the AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo.

The match was praised heavily by many people, including those that had never seen Vikingo before since he mostly wrestles in Mexico. Omega took everything that Vikingo could give him, but ultimately Omega was able to put him away in the non-title match.

As for the future, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reported that there is a plan to have a Vikingo-Omega title match at some point in the future.

“While nothing is confirmed, the hope is for Vikingo vs. Omega for the title in Tijuana or Mexico City. This was part of the story when Omega beat Vikingo in the non-title match on AEW Dynamite.”

This past Wednesday on the April 19th edition of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (collectively known as The Elite) were beaten up by the Blackpool Combat Club again when Don Callis brought Konosuke Takeshita out to make the save, which likely means that The Elite have found themselves an ally.
