Jon Moxley Suffers Serious Blow On AEW Dynamite
A special edition of AEW Dynamite was in store for the fans as the promotion hosted its Summer Blockbuster Television Special at The Andrew J Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The episode aired live from the hometown of AEW Continental Champion, Jon Moxley, who was scheduled to defend his title tonight against Shane Taylor of the Shane Taylor Promotions.
Taylor, who hails from Cleveland, Ohio, renewed the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns rivalry inside the squared circle as both Ohio men fought it out in the Battle of Ohio.
Moxley began the match on the front foot as he tried to tame the bigger Shane Taylor, but the Cleveland native turned it around quickly, using his size to his advantage.
Jon Moxley suffers brutal assault on AEW Dynamite
He began to dominate Moxley for large parts of the match and seemed like he would be the one to dethrone Mox as the champion. Moxley ultimately got back into the match and had Shane Taylor trapped in the ankle lock.
While the ankle lock wasn’t enough to get the win, it weakened him enough to allow Mox to hit him with the Stomp. The champion followed that up with the Bulldog Choke, forcing him tap out.
Following his win though, Moxley was attacked by Shane Taylor who knocked him down. Taylor was then approached by Carlie Bravo, who gave him a belt that Taylor used to assault Moxley.

Daniel Garica tried to come to Jon Moxley’s rescue, but Bravo and Shawn Dean took him out, while Marina Shafir was stopped from entering the ring by Trish Adora, who took her out with a Kendo Stick.
As the Death Riders were taken out by the rest of STP, Shane Taylor choked Mox out with the belt before hitting him with a huge splash from the top rope to end the attack.
