Jon Moxley Called A “Fraud” By WWE Legend, Claims “Death Riders Have Not Helped AEW”
A WWE Hall of Famer feels like Jon Moxley’s Death Riders group hasn’t done much for AEW.
When Jon Moxley formed the Death Riders in AEW in late summer 2024, it was the end of the Blackpool Combat Club stable. Moxley and his new group turned on his ally, Bryan Danielson, leading to Moxley beating Danielson to win the AEW World Title.
It was a dark heel turn for Moxley and his group since he would do things like put bags on people’s heads to try to suffocate them.
A stable called the Death Riders was formed, led by former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who was joined by Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia, who has been added too. Gabe Kidd is also an associate of the group.
After losing the AEW World Title to “Hangman” Adam Page at AEW All Out 2025, the Death Riders were weakened, but not defeated.
Jon Moxley has held the AEW Continental Title for the past six months, and the Death Riders have been cheered more, even though they were originally created to try to tear down AEW and make others tougher in the company.
Bully Ray Doesn’t Believe In Jon Moxley’s Death Riders
Recently on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray) criticized the Death Riders, while claiming that Jon Moxley is just playing out his pro wrestling fantasies.
“The Death Riders have not helped AEW in any way, shape, or form. The Death Riders are Jon Moxley playing out his pro wrestling fantasies because he’s got Tony [Khan’s] ear. Because he wants to be Terry Funk? I would kick the s**t out of Jon Moxley.”
Bully Ray claimed he couldn’t beat up somebody like Claudio Castagnoli, and then mentioned Moxley again.
“But Moxley? I’d beat the living s**t out of him. Fraud.”
Since the Death Riders have a current storyline with the popular star Will Ospreay, where they are trying to toughen him up. Ospreay is in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament against Swerve Strickland, and the winner gets a shot at the AEW World Title at All In, which is in London, England, where Ospreay is from. Bully Ray gave his thoughts on that story as well.
“Hopefully, they book to put asses in seats while incorporating The Death Riders into this main event match, and not just for what they want to see. Too many times, I’ve seen wrestlers booked for what they want to see and what they think social media will pop for. The only thing you want to book for is for people to put their hand into their pocket and pay money to sit in a seat. That’s the goal, that’s the business of The Business.” (H/T WrestlingInc)
