John Cena’s former tag partner has discussed the possibility of returning to wrestling.

David Otunga briefly teamed up with Cena when he was forced to join the Nexus faction after losing his 2010 Hell in a Cell singles match against Wade Barrett.

The duo defeated Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre in October of that year at Bragging Rights to become the tag team champions. However, on the following Raw episode, John Cena and Otunga dropped the title to their stablemates Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel.

Otunga was incidentally the only original member through the different iterations of Nexus until its disbandment.

He was released from the company in 2020 as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts.

While speaking on a recent video on his YouTube podcast, the 45-year-old revealed that he was not averse to returning to WWE or even joining AEW.

I wouldn’t rule [a WWE return] out, and I would listen to any offer that came in – be it WWE, AEW, any company.

He said he might even accept a managerial role.

Kind of like a Paul Heyman, but as a lawyer – a legal advocate – and, you know, maybe pair me with a talent who isn’t so great on the mic and then I could do the promo work for him.

David Otunga Accused John Cena Of Verbal And Emotional Abuse

David Otunga’s accusations against John Cena came in a podcast video a few days before his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII.

Otunga recalled an in-ring botch during a tag match with Cena. He claimed that the 17-time world champion dressed him down by abusing him backstage in front of his peers.

He also revealed that the botch was committed by Cena, but he paid the price as he was the junior performer.

But the fact that it was just this verbal abuse, I couldn’t really do anything but take it. I’m a rookie, so I guess I just have to eat that and be humiliated in front of the entire locker room, the agents, the audience, and talked down to, disrespected, the undertones thrown around.
