Jinder Mahal is back in the WWE spotlight while also becoming a trending name on social media.

It has been a big 2024 already for Jinder Mahal, who wasn’t featured in the ring that much in 2023. Mahal spent much of 2023 trying to enhance the Indus Sher tag team of Veer & Sanga.

To start the new year, Jinder Mahal appeared on the Day 1 edition of Raw in a segment where a former WWE Champion was there to address the crowd. Mahal insulted the fans and then he was interrupted by The Rock. That segment ended with Rock beating Mahal, but it also drew over 170 million social media views due to The Rock, so it got a lot of attention.

When WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins was in the ring on the January 8th Raw, he was confronted by Jinder Mahal. That led to a promo exchange and a fight with Mahal escaping before Rollins could hit him with The Stomp.

Mahal, who is a former WWE Champion, will get a World Heavyweight Title match against Rollins on the January 15th edition of Raw.

During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Jinder Mahal talked about being disrespected by WWE fans.

“It was nothing new to me. The WWE Universe has always reacted to me in such fashion. There’s a famous shot when I became WWE Champion, the pan into the crowd and everybody’s jaw is hitting the floor. I don’t understand why the WWE Universe is surprised when the Modern Day Maharaja returns or becomes champion.”

“Let’s face it, I am the prototype of what every superstar should be, the prototype of what every champion should be. I look the part, I speak the part, I speak with intelligence, I speak the truth. I bring it in the ring, I have been in there with possibly the greatest competitors of all time in our business, the likes of Randy Orton, John Cena, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, so again, I’m insulted by the reactions but it was a great start to the new year until I was interrupted by The Rock.”

“But nonetheless, this past week, was in the ring with Seth Rollins, told him exactly how I feel, and now I’m number one contender to the world heavyweight champion. I was trending on Twitter all day yesterday [laughs], and somehow, again, the Modern Day Maharaja is the talk of the town.”

Why Was Jinder Mahal Trending On Social Media?

As mentioned by Mahal, he was trending on Twitter/X in a top spot for most of the afternoon and evening on Tuesday. The reason for that is because AEW’s Owner Tony Khan felt the need to attack Jinder’s win-loss record because Khan felt that people complained about booking FTW Champion Hook as a potential AEW World Title contender.

Mahal tweeted and deleted while asking the question: “Who tf is Hook?” Mahal went on to plug Monday Night Raw as well.
