Jeff Jarrett Talks WWE Hall of Fame Induction, Reveals When He Found Out

TJR Wrestling

Following yesterday’s announcement that Jeff Jarrett would be the latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018, TMZ had the chance to catch up with The Chosen One. Thanks to Chris Featherstone at Wrestlinginc.com for the transcript.

On his career coming full-circle with his WWE Hall of Fame Induction:

“Out of all the guys who’ve laced up their boots, there’s less that 200 of us in the Hall of Fame. So, I’m very grateful. I’m very, very humbled, and… this is for my family. My family goes back three generations, so I’m the lucky one that got picked for my family being in the Hall of Fame.”

On his infamous on-air firing by Vince McMahon on the final edition of WCW Monday Night Nitro:

“That night in Panama City, who would’ve thunk (laughs), who would’ve thought these many years later, 17 years later or whatever it may be, that I’m standing here Monday, February the 19th and the announcement is made.”

Jarrett noted that they asked him at some point in January about going in the Hall of Fame, so kudos to him for keeping it quiet.

Jarrett joins other confirmed members Ivory, the Dudley Boyz, and Goldberg in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018. The induction ceremony takes place on Friday, April 6 in New Orleans, two nights before WrestleMania and will air live on the WWE Network.

Tommy’s Thoughts: He spent his days working hard on the go…

Whether you loved him or hated him: I will go on record and say that “DON’T PISS ME OFF” Jeff Jarrett was my favorite guitar-swinger, even above Honky Tonk Man. The only thing better was the “DON’T MAKE ME MAD” slogan they put on his action figure to make it more PG-friendly.

With the way Elias is running through the ranks though, Double J might have to settle for 2nd place soon enough.

While I completely understand not seeing any Owen Hart in the highlight reel, it’s a shame they couldn’t feature their tag team run in the considering it put Jarrett back in the spotlight for the remainder of his WWE career.

Now for the REAL important question: With him and Ivory going in this year, are we considering this the “D’Lo Brown’s 1999 Run HoF Class”, or the “People Who Chyna Beat For Titles Until We Say We Can Finally Induct Her HoF Class”?

Not to mention, I wonder how many times they’ll cut to Kurt Angle during his speech??
