Jacob Fatu opens up about getting fired before even joining WWE.

On the February 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Samoan Werewolf delivered an intense promo aimed at Cody Rhodes to build further heat ahead of their Elimination Chamber qualifying match later that night.

During the exchange, Fatu got personal and told Rhodes, “I almost got fired before I even got hired because I had to get my sh*t together.”

Jacob Fatu Faced Many Challenges On His Way To WWE.

In a new interview with Denise Salcedo at the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest on February 23, Jacob Fatu clarified that the line was not just scripted dialogue.

Instead, he explained that it was a reflection of his real-life journey to WWE and a literal confession about the struggles he faced along the way.

“I almost got fired before I got hired. They thought that was a line. No, that was no lying. Like, man, this is real uncut Jacob Fatu.”

“And this ain’t me to try to say like, ‘Oh, I had the hardest life this and that coming up.’ No, this ain’t got nothing to do with that. And this got something to do with like, man, you can make it out the way. Anything you going through, bro. Wake up. Go get it. Go push. Keep pushing, bro. Don’t give up.”

“Trust me. It was days I didn’t want to get up, man. It was so easy for me just to go, uh, you know what I mean? But, man, nah, just keep pushing. Keep going to it, man. God is good. God is great.”

“Now, look, you got Xbox and 2K 26, WWE in the background. You know what I mean? Yeah. Locked in.”

Fatu went on to lose his Elimination Chamber qualifying triple threat match to Cody Rhodes. However, Fatu remains a loose cannon in the storyline. While he continues to feud with Rhodes, he is also clearly obsessed with getting revenge on Drew McIntyre.
