Former AEW World Champion MJF has had a forgettable time since defeating Kenny Omega at AEW Dynasty earlier this month. He defended his title at the pay-per-view, only to lose it shortly afterwards.

He was suddenly scheduled to defend the title once again on the Dynamite after Dynasty and ended up losing to Darby Allin, who shocked him and won by squashing the Salt of the Earth.

Following his shock loss, MJF came out to call Darby out last week, but was interrupted by the TNT Champion, Kevin Knight, and their war of words led to a title match between the two for tonight.

MJF kicked off the show as he looked to capture Kevin Knight’s TNT title, and he was out for vengeance. He took his frustrations out on Knight and assaulted him on the ringside before powerbombing him onto the ringside barricade.

He looked to put him away with a quick pin, but Kevin kicked out quickly and got back into the match with a springboard dive and took control of the bout with his high-flying action.

MJF capitalized on a knee injury that Knight suffered during the match and started targeting. His left knee, which prevented him from going for the cover immediately after the UFO splash, allowed MJF just enough time to kick out following the move.

He then continued his assault on his knee before bringing the TNT Title into the ring. The referee snatched the title away from him, and MJF tried to knock him out with the Diamond Dynamite Ring, but the decision backfired on him.

Knight used the referee’s distraction to hit him with a low blow and pinned him with a small package pin to retain his championship. He attacked Knight after the match but was sent packing by Darby Allin.

MJF moaned about Allin’s decision to attack him and asked him to give him his rematch for the AEW World Championship. The champion refused to do so without MJF putting anything on the line and instead offered a title match to Kevin Knight next week.
