Wild Pitch To End Cody Rhodes’ WWE Title Reign Branded “Dumb”
A major WWE star was pitched to dethrone Cody Rhodes and then join a top faction. However, the proposed scenario was shot down.
The American Nightmare is currently holding the Undisputed WWE Championship in his third reign. Following Sami Zayn’s influential actions during Rhodes’ title match against Gunther last Friday on SmackDown, The Last Real Good Guy and The Ring General will challenge the champion this Saturday at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Jey Uso qualified for the final of the King of the Ring tournament after beating Je’Von Evans in the semi-finals. The Bloodline member will now fight Oba Femi for the crown at the upcoming premium live event.
Cody Rhodes To Lose The Undisputed WWE Title To Sami Zayn?
During a recent episode of WWE analyst Sam Roberts’ Notsam Wrestling podcast, a fan pitched a scenario in which Sami Zayn would end Cody Rhodes’ title reign this Saturday, while Jey Uso wins the King of the Ring tournament.
Under the proposed storyline, Uso and Zayn would then square off at SummerSlam for the title, with the added stipulation that if the former Honorary Uce loses, he must rejoin The Bloodline.
Roberts quickly shot down the wild pitch, claiming it was “dumb.”
No, I think that’s dumb. The idea of Sami rejoining The Bloodline makes no sense because I think that whole scenario completely ignores Sami’s story. I think that Sami is fully involved in a story with Cody and Gunther and everything going on on SmackDown. And to all of a sudden go, ‘Well, now Sami’s the champion, Gunther and Cody are gonna be pi**ed at him.’
So, instead of dealing with that, he’s like, ‘Well, no, I’m just gonna fight Jey and we’re gonna do a story about The Bloodline.’ To me, makes no sense. It completely ignores the story that you’ve been building on SmackDown. And instead of focusing on what’s new about The Bloodline, just goes back to old Bloodline. [1:14:26 onwards]
