Tony Khan has kicked off a discussion about Mercedes Mone ahead of AEW Dynasty.

The promotion’s second pay-per-view of 2026 is set to get underway in a few hours, promising plenty of action-packed moments between top wrestlers.

Mone has not been seen in AEW since the January 7 episode of Dynamite, where she was invited to be a part of Willow Nightingale’s celebration for winning the TBS Championship.

On December 31, 2025, Nightingale defeated Mone at New Year’s Smash, ending the latter’s record reign of 584 days.

While Mercedes Mone did turn up for Willow’s segment, she appeared to be in a state of mourning and ended up with cake on her face.

During the subsequent episode of Collision, a vignette ran showing Mone distraught, as she announced that she was stepping away from AEW. However, she promised that she would return and that she would be coming for more than just belts.

The CEO had a record-shattering year in 2025, as she held 13 championships simultaneously at one point. By the end of the year, she lost 3 of those, including the TBS Championship to Nightingale.

After being on a hiatus for a couple of months, she returned to wrestling, starting with her CMLL Women’s World Championship defense against Persephone. To everyone’s shock, the 24-year-old star defeated Mone to become the new champion.

The 34-year-old veteran subsequently toured Europe to defend her other championships. However, she remained winless and continued dropping titles.

She returned to North America and lost the WPW Women’s Championship as well to Jody Threat before vacating her APAC Title because the Malaysian promotion did not have the budget to fly her out.

Tony Khan Discusses Mercedes Mone Ahead Of AEW Dynamite

Tony Khan has been aware of Mercedes Mone’s recent losing streak, which he addressed during a recent virtual interview.

Speaking to Jason Hall, the AEW President expressed excitement about Mone being closer to her return to the promotion, although he did not offer any specific timeline.

Yeah, I am very excited about Mercedes MonĂ©. She’s a huge part of AEW and I’m very excited to have her back in AEW hopefully soon. She’s been traveling the world. She’s wrestled all over. I think she’s hit a rough spot in her wrestling career in terms of her championship aspirations.

She held so many championships all over the world. And now, with Mercedes having traveled the world, she won all these championships and now she’s had some setbacks. I still think she’s one of the top wrestlers on the planet and I’m excited for her to return to AEW in 2026. [H/T: Ringside News]

It remains to be seen whether or not Mercedes Mone makes her return at Dynasty on April 12.

The pay-per-view will be headlined by MJF and Kenny Omega, who is the challenger for Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s World Championship.

Jon Moxley will defend his Continental Championship in a grudge match against Will Ospreay, who returned a few weeks ago for the first time since August last year.

Thekla will also put her Women’s World Championship on the line against Jamie Hayter. The full card of the event can be viewed here.
