Mercedes Mone Suffers Serious Blow After Walking Away From AEW

Mercedes Mone was one of the wrestling world’s MVPs in 2025.

At one point, she held 13 championships simultaneously across different promotions, including the AEW TBS Championship. She adopted the moniker of “Ultimo Mone” as a tribute to the legendary Ultimo Dragon, who held 10 titles in the mid 90s.

She also remained unbeaten in most of her singles matches. In fact, her first loss since joining the promotion in 2024 came against Toni Storm at All In: Texas in July 2025.

Mercedes Mone continued to thrive and add belts for a few more months, but by the end of 2025, she suffered multiple defeats in title matches that saw her numbers dwindle.

By the end of the year, she lost three titles: ROH Women’s World Television Championship, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, and AEW TBS Championship.

Mercedes Mone Suffers Another Shock Title Defeat

Mercedes Mone losing the AEW TBS Championship seemed to have hit the CEO close to her heart. She held the title for 584 days.

Following her loss to Willow Nightingale on December 31, 2025, Mone was featured in a video, where she claimed that she felt disrespected by the female talent of the company.

As a result, she would be taking a break from AEW, promising to return to collect ‘more than just titles.’

Since her loss to Nightingale, Mone competed in her first match on March 6, defending the CMLL World Women’s Championship against Persephone at CMLL La Noche de la Amazonas.

24-year-old Persephone is one of the rising talents in wrestling. The two had last competed in October at CMLL Viernes Espectacular, where Mone came out victorious.

However, the table got flipped on her this time around, as Persephone managed to win not only the match but also win the title, ending Mone’s run after 261 days.
