Injured WWE Star Closing In On Return
An injured WWE star is set to return to the ring after missing nearly a year of action.
One of the injuries that happens in pro wrestling far too often is a torn ACL, which is the tearing of a ligament in the knee. Many people in wrestling have had that kind of injury. There are several wrestlers on the shelf right now dealing with torn ACLs such as Charlotte Flair and Shotzi.
Sonya Deville also suffered a torn ACL in August 2023 during a match on WWE Smackdown when she tagged with Chelsea Green against Charlotte Flair & Bianca Belair.
The injury led to Deville having major knee surgery and when it comes to an ACL, an athlete can miss anywhere from 7 to 12 months depending on how the rehab goes.
There is good news for Deville because the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that “Deville is expected to be back soon and has been training for her return after knee surgery.”
Is Sonya Deville Part Of The WWE Draft?
On Smackdown in Cincinnati, the 2024 version of the WWE Draft began. While Sonya Deville might be ready to return to the ring soon, she is not listed among the eligible WWE superstars who will be drafted.
During her time away from the ring, Deville has stayed busy because in February 2023 she got married to her partner Toni Cassano in a wedding that was attended by notable wrestling names like Charlotte Flair, Andrade, Bayley, Montez Ford, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona, Vic Joseph, McKenzie Mitchell, and Mandy Rose.
Deville has been a part of WWE since being on the 2015 Tough Enough show and was signed to a contract after the show was over.
