Awesome Kong is set to make her return to the ring for the first time in over 3 years.

As announced on social media, the two-time Knockouts Champion is the latest name to be announced for the IMPACT 1000 show, which will be taking place on September 9th.

A legend of women’s wrestling, Awesome Kong’s rivalry with Gail Kim is widely regarded as one of the most significant feuds in the history of the promotion, showcasing the women’s division at a time when other companies were not. The former Knockouts Champion was recognised for her contributions to wrestling by being inducted into the IMPACT Hall of Fame in 2021.

Kong’s last match would take place inside an AEW ring in 2020. On New Year’s Day, the Hall of Famer would compete on AEW: Dark in a match against Skyler Moore. Kong would win the match in just over 3 minutes.

Fans of the Netflix show GLOW [Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling] will also recognise Kong as Tammé Dawson/The Welfare Queen. Continuing her success in the fictional promotion, The Welfare Queen ended season one celebrating as the GLOW Champion.
