Gunther Wants To Wrestle Oba Femi & 2 More WWE Stars
Gunther has been on a roll lately, to say the least.
Gunther managed to become a top heel in WWE after retiring two WWE Legends in two consecutive months.
He made John Cena tap out to his sleeperhold in Cena’s final ever match in December 2025, and at the Royal Rumble in January this year, made AJ Styles pass out from the same hold, retiring him as per a pre-determined stipulation as well.
This made WWE dub him the Career Killer. He most recently defeated Dragon Lee, AJ Styles’ former tag team partner, in singles action on Raw last week.
His WrestleMania 42 plans are still unclear, but in a recent appearance on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About?’ podcast, The Ring General named the wrestlers he would like to face.
Gunther Names Wrestlers He Would Like To Face
Gunther talked on the podcast about how he would like to be in a position to elevate younger talent in WWE in the future.
He name-dropped some rising stars like Ilja Dragunov, Bron Breakker, and Oba Femi.
Where I wanna get to is to be able to get into that spot, but then wrestle Ilja [Dragunov] in that position. And have great matches with Bron [Breakker] down the line in that position. Have great matches with Oba [Femi].
There’s many more of them. I feel like that’s what I wanna get to. I wanna be the guy that’s gonna be able to wrestle all of them, have great matches with all of them, and contribute that way.
In the same episode, Gunther spoke about how it felt to retire John Cena, revealing that it felt more intense than WrestleMania.
That day, strangely, it felt like… it almost felt like more intense than WrestleMania that day.
