Former TNA World Champion Set To Be Free Agent

TNA Wrestling should be riding high after a successful re-brand of the company from Impact Wrestling but things have begun to unravel.

Scott D’Amore was fired as TNA president with the promotion’s owners Anthem appointing a new person to that role. As a result, many of the TNA roster put their name to an open letter to Anthem criticising the move and re-asserting their belief that D’Amore was the best person to run the company.

Josh Alexander has had his option year picked up by TNA meaning that he will now be with the company until 2025. However Fightful Select has noted that Alexander originally asked for that option to not be exercised meaning that he’d be heading towards free agency and able to explore his options elsewhere.

While Alexander might not be going anywhere for now, it seems that another former TNA World Champion just might be.

Steve Maclin On His Way Out Of TNA?

Fightful Select has reported that Steve Maclin’s TNA contract ends in May 2024. The former TNA World Champion joined the promotion after he was released by WWE in 2020.

Maclin won the vacant TNA World Title at Rebellion in April 2023 but he only held the gold for 54 days before losing it to Alex Shelley.

There is no word if TNA and Steve Maclin have had discussions about a new deal as of yet. Maclin’s wife Deonna Purrazzo recently debuted for AEW after leaving TNA.
