A WWE superstar shared an interesting post on social media based on what Cody Rhodes had to say on SmackDown.

In the main event of WWE SmackDown on June 26th in London, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was in the ring along with his two Night of Champions opponents, Gunther and Sami Zayn.

Before Gunther got out there, Rhodes and Zayn exchanged words like a couple of close friends going through a falling-out, saying things they knew would hurt each other.

After Zayn claimed he didn’t want to get involved in the Rhodes-Gunther situation, Rhodes wondered if that was the truth. Rhodes claimed that Zayn is not a victim; he’s exhausting. Rhodes said that Zayn has been like a mosquito sucking the blood from the WWE Champion.

There was also a point in the promo where Rhodes referenced another WWE SmackDown wrestler whom Zayn often speaks to backstage: Johnny Gargano. In fact, Gargano shared this clip of Rhodes’ promo on his X/Twitter account.

“Sami, this whole victim card that you’re playing for me, that you’re playing for that ‘thing’ that is just laying down backstage…”

What Cody Rhodes was referencing was how Johnny Gargano has been shown lying on equipment cases on SmackDown for months now. Nearly every week on the show, we see Zayn talking to Gargano, who offers no response, while Gargano’s wife, Candice LeRae, is frustrated about the whole thing.

Could Johnny Gargano get involved in the Undisputed WWE Title match between Rhodes-Zayn-Gunther at Night of Champions and help Zayn win the WWE Title?

The fact that Rhodes referenced Gargano in that way certainly could be a tease of what’s to come. Plus, Gargano sharing it on social media was obviously done to highlight what Rhodes said. Fans will have to tune in to Night of Champions to find out.

Cody Rhodes Knows When His Wrestling Career Might End

As a pro wrestler for the last 20 years, Cody Rhodes has accomplished a lot. The past four years in WWE have unquestionably been the best run of his career as he has become a 3-time WWE Champion and an undisputed top superstar in the company.

Recently, the soon-to-be 41-year-old Cody Rhodes spoke about his wrestling future and how he’s likely going to be done as a wrestler later in his 40s.

“I do think it does take a toll, at a certain point and I don’t think in 10 years I’ll still be going. I think there will be another QB1 of WWE at that point.

As far as in-ring competition and I don’t think that’s breaking news to anyone. Turning 41 in a week and I feel the best I’ve ever felt as an athlete, but I do think in 10 years, I will no longer be wrestling bell to bell. No.

I think five years would be a, you know… Five years sounds good. Like, if I was to sign a new contract, maybe it would be for five years.”
