Former AEW Champion Signs New Multi-Year Contract
AEW has secured the services of a former champion for the foreseeable future after they signed a multi-year contract.
A recent report by Fightful Select revealed that Kevin Knight has re-signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Following sporadic appearances in the company, Knight officially debuted on Collision in March 2025 after signing a one-year contract just as his deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling ended.
At the time, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful claimed that the Tony Khan-led promotion knew about the competition between wrestling promotions to sign Knight, leading to it starting negotiations.
Khan, along with Rocky Romero, had personally met Knight in a meeting where they discussed the company’s relationship with NJPW.
The latest report claimed that the 29-year-old wrestler has earned rave reviews for his in-ring performances, which resulted in him becoming one-third of the World Trios Champions alongside ‘Speedball’ Kevin Knight and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.
An AEW star has surprisingly re-signed, but not surprising for the reason you might think.
His work has been highly regarded within AEW.
Their title reign lasted 49 days, ending on Dynamite earlier in the week after they lost to members of the Don Callis Family.
Kevin Knight In The Scheme Of Things For Bigger Stories In AEW
Kevin Knight’s renewal of the AEW contract is not random.
The company has major storylines planned for him in the near future. Recently, he shared screen time with the likes of Swerve Strickland, who is a former World Champion, as well as the current champion MJF.
On Dynamite, Knight opened the show with his title match against MJF, which unfortunately ended in a loss for him. After the match, the Don Callis Family confronted him and Mike Bailey, challenging them for the World Trios Championship later in the evening.
Knight’s new long-term deal could also open doors for him in other wrestling promotions with which Tony Khan shares a business relationship.
