AEW is planning a major push for a current champion, as evidenced by their latest feuds.

Over the last few weeks, Kevin Knight has been featured in segments against the likes of Swerve Strickland and MJF.

The ‘Jet’ is also one-third of the World Trios Champions with ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.

Him confronting Maxwell Jacob Friedman on Collision also earned Knight a World Championship match on Dynamite next week.

On a recent session of Self Made Sessions, Self Made Pro revealed that the company’s higher-ups are seeing Knight on par with several main event level-talent.

I’ll tell you this, folks — AEW believes in him. They believe in him as a prospect. A lot of the main-event guys like him because the word about Kevin Knight from wrestlers — and I’ve heard this from numerous people — is that he has a great attitude.

And why does that matter? Because if you’re a young wrestler, there’s kind of an unspoken thing in wrestling — the locker room is always watching how you carry yourself. If you’re a young guy getting a big shine in a TV match, for example, they’re looking to see if you’re the guy shaking hands, thanking people, thanking the guys who were bumping for you and making you look good, thanking the people helping you in the back, and so on.

Kevin Knight Seen As A Well-Rounded Talent In AEW

It’s not just Kevin Knight’s matches and segments that have impressed bosses, but also his discipline, professionalism, and gratitude.

He’s said to have a great attitude when it comes to that type of thing, and that’s what got him over with the boys. I’d imagine that discipline came from working in New Japan and being in the dojo, because you have to be hyper-disciplined there. So he’s going to come correct and not act entitled in AEW.

And speaking of that, when he signed with AEW, he signed a short deal — basically a prove-it deal. And he treated it like that. He didn’t just assume the next contract was automatically coming, even though it probably was. And now he finds himself in a position where I can straight up say he’s poised for a big push this year.
