A female star’s pitch for her WWE name was once rejected.

Alba Fyre first started her WWE run in NXT UK under the name Kay Lee Ray. However, she would soon rebrand herself as Alba Fyre. After NXT UK ended, she moved on to NXT, where she found success in a tag team with Isla Dawn. Together, they won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. They were the last NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions after the title was unified with the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Once Alba Fyre moved to the main roster with Isla Dawn, they were kept off TV for a long time and were seldom used. Despite this, they were able to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships. After Isla Dawn parted ways with the WWE, Alba Fyre formed an alliance with Chelsea Green and became a regular feature on SmackDown. Despite being regularly used on the blue brand, Fyre left the WWE. Fans initially thought that she was released, but the former WWE star confirmed that her contract with the sports entertainment juggernaut had expired. Before she was known as Alba Fyre, she had pitched another name, which had been rejected.

Alba Fyre revealed the name she had pitched to WWE

During a recent interview with Daily Star, Alba Fyure revealed that her name was WWE’s idea. The Stamford-based promotion chose Alba Fyre because it’s Scottish fire.

“It was WWE’s idea. I had pitched some names, but ultimately, it was one that they suggested that we went with. Alba Fyre, it’s Scottish fire, that is what I am. They know what they’re doing, they’re WWE. I always feel, differently from the independents, in WWE, I’m an actor on their TV show. If they present a character to me, I’m going to play that character, but on the independents, I’m going to play the character that I want to play.”

Alba further added that she pitched the name Paisley, which got rejected because the company was looking for something fiery.

“Well, people from there might make fun of me for this, but Paisley was actually one that I suggested. I was born in Paisley, so like Paisley Ray, something like that, so it kind of went with the Kay Lee. But they were like ‘No, you’re a bad**s, we need something fiery.’” [H/T WrestleTalk.com]

It’s a good thing that the Stamford-based promotion rejected the name Paisley.
