Ex-WWE Star’s AEW Debut Canceled; Replacement Gets A Stunning Victory
AEW fans were set to witness the debut of a former WWE star at the Summer Blockbuster edition of Dynamite tonight. The episode was being aired live from The Adam J Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The card for tonight’s show featured some exciting matches, including two major Owen Hart Cup matches, one each for the men’s and women’s side of the tournament.
The first of the two Owen Hart Cup matches that was scheduled for tonight would’ve seen Skye Blue take on former NXT star Sareee. However, the highly anticipated debut of the former WWE star was sadly canceled.
AEW star overcomes personal loss to win major match
After landing in the United States for her match, Sareee was not medically cleared to make her AEW debut owing to a lingering neck issue. She was replaced in the tournament by up-and-coming AEW wrestler Maya World.
World has been appearing for AEW and ROH for the last few years, and finally signed her All Elite contract in December last year. Maya’s match against Skye Blue came at an incredibly tough time for the wrestler on a personal front.

She very recently suffered the tragic and unexpected loss of her younger brother, Jeitwan Wilson, who passed away in a car accident. She chose to overcome her personal loss and wrestle in the tournament in her brother’s honor.
Maya was introduced to wrestling by her brother and honored his memory by gaining a stunning victory over Skye Blue. With this win, she advanced to the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup, where she will face the woman who trained her to become a wrestler, Athena.
