Ex-WWE Star Launches Shocking Accusations Against John Cena

John Cena’s final match in WWE is done. He tapped out against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025 and concluded his in-ring WWE career.

During the course of his WWE career, The Champ has seen his fair share of highs and lows. In fact, his career soared when Dr. Thuganomics was discovered.

While in WWE, Never Seen 17 had become influential and possibly had some say in how his storylines would work. It seems that former WWE superstar Michael Tarver pointed out how that cost Tarver.

Michael Tarver believes John Cena should not have defeated NXT Nexus at SummerSlam

Tarver spoke on the F Y’All Podcast about the SummerSlam match between Team Cena and The Nexus. John Cena’s team defeated the NXT rookies, which ultimately ended up blowing the lid off the faction’s popularity.

Tarver claimed that Cena’s insistence on defeating the faction ended up costing the faction any future traction.

One person. (John Cena) One person, I don’t work there no more I can tell the truth. I’ve been telling the truth the last 11 years since I left there, it was him. It was straight up him.

Much respect to John Cena, but the truth is still the truth. So John Cena was kind of, he was kind of at point of the Nexus storyline, we were centering it around him, so he kind of took point. Which is great, that’s good, it’s John Cena. Problem is, it’s John Cena, and nobody’s perfect.

So once the storyline got going, and we actually started to really get some traction, I felt like him beating us at SummerSlam was greedy, and he’s actually done interviews and said it was a mistake, he shouldn’t have done that. He said it himself, which I respect that, but it took a lot of people the past 11 years to be like ‘yo man, you killed something that would have been the biggest thing in a very long time, and what did it get you?’ It didn’t help you at all to kill us, it would have helped you more to (lose).
