After allegations of domestic violence against his wife, Alberto Del Rio was arrested on Monday, April 6.

Del Rio has experienced run-ins with the law in the past as well. In 2017, he and his then-partner and former WWE Divas Champion Paige (Saraya) were involved in a public altercation that required police intervention.

Witnesses at the scene recalled the couple engaged in a shouting match at an airport, with Del Rio allegedly daring Paige to call the police, whereas she told him to leave her alone. While neither party was arrested, it did lead to an investigation against Alberto.

Another incident between the pair came to light when Paige filed a domestic violence complaint against Del Rio in the United States in 2018. In its report, Infobae revealed that he was arrested, but the case did not reach court, and no formal charges were filed against him.

Alberto Del Rio Was Formally Charged In 2020 In Another Incident

Alberto Del Rio again found himself on the wrong side of the law in 2020 when he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, after his then-partner, Reyna Quintero, filed a complaint against him.

The charges against him included aggravated kidnapping and four counts of s*xual assault, with the incident allegedly taking place between May 3 and May 4 of that year.

In her report, Quintero claimed that the wrestler bound her and gagged her before s*xually assaulting her. He was also accused of destroying her phone and trying to burn her passport.

Responding officers observed injuries in the victim, following which a bail amount of $50,000 was set. Del Rio also faced a potential sentencing of 99 years in prison, plus 20 years on each count of assault.

In 2021, La Razon de Mexico reported that the case was dismissed after Quintero failed to appear in court to testify at the trial.

Alberto Del Rio denied the allegations following the dismissal of the case, stating. “I never kidnapped or sexually assaulted anyone. They were false accusations, and the same bureau that investigated, intercepted phones, and in the end, determined my innocence.”

Alberto Del Rio Could Face Up To 20 Years In Prison

The latest incident involving Alberto Del Rio could see the former WWE Champion locked up for up to 20 years.

A report by Milenio reveals that he could face one of two sentences under the San Luis Potosí Criminal Code, as decided by the prosecutors.

The minimum charge could put him behind bars for one to seven years, plus a fine that would range from roughly 2,346 pesos to 82,117 pesos.

A more serious charge will see him get imprisoned anywhere from eight to 20 years and a fine of roughly between 46,924 pesos and 82,117 pesos.

Meanwhile, Infobae Mexico also revealed the identity of the victim as Mary Carmen Rodriguez Lucero, who is currently under legal protection.

The report claims that she had previously reached out to a local journalist, Flor Rubio, for assistance, but backed out later. Her message to the journalist read: “I went through a situation with my husband. It was an impulse on my part. I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to cause trouble or make things bigger.”
