Ex-WWE Champion: “He Was Terrible, Man, When He Became The Rock”
A former WWE Intercontinental Champion disclosed his personal experience with The Rock from years ago. The star in question is Ahmed Johnson.
From 1995 to 1998, Ahmed Johnson had a run with the WWE and was a part of the popular faction, ‘Nation of Domination,’ alongside the likes of Farooq, Mark Henry, The Rock, and more. During that time, Rock was known as ‘Rocky Maivia,’ and he quickly rose to prominence during his time in the faction.
Rocky Maivia’s name changed to The Rock when he turned heel and ended up becoming the leader of the Nation of Domination faction. Meanwhile, Rock’s former Nation stablemate, Ahmed Johnson revealed how his behaviour had changed after becoming the leader of the faction.
Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Ahmed Johnson stated that Rock was terrible after he became The Rock, but was cool before that:
Before he became The Rock, man, he was cool, man. He was good people before he became The Rock. Once he became The Rock, oh my God, man. You couldn’t tell him don’t stink. I mean, he was conceded, on cloud nine. He was terrible, man, when he became The Rock”
Ahmed Johnson further revealed that when The Rock was made the leader of the Nation of Domination faction over Farooq, he couldn’t be told anything:
It took a little while, but once they started adding him into play with being the leader of the Nation over Farooq, his head just swelled up and you couldn’t tell him nothing, brother,” Ahmed stated. [H/T Ringside News]
The Rock could make an in-ring return only for one reason
The Rock last wrestled at WrestleMania 40, and his last TV appearance was at the Elimination Chamber PLE last year. On one of his shows earlier this year, ex-WWE personality, Jonathan Coachman reflected on how Saudi Arabia could offer Rock 30-40 million for a match at WrestleMania next year, considering they dictated the Royal Rumble in their country this year:
What I saw at the Royal Rumble, I believe, even at my core, that Saudi Arabia and those that work with the company dictated what they wanted to see at the Royal Rumble. So, I do believe they will dictate what they want to see at WrestleMania next year. And you know, I’ve heard a $100 to $200 million payday. So, you don’t think they’d pay Rock 30 or 40 million for one match? Of course they would,” Coach said.
Only time will tell whether The Great One will actually return for a match next year.
