Drew McIntyre Reveals If He Would Give CM Punk WWE World Title Match

Drew McIntyre CM Punk WWE Promo

Drew McIntyre is set to challenge for the WWE World Title and he commented on the possibility of a title defense against CM Punk.

The rivalry between former WWE Champions Drew McIntyre and CM Punk has been one of the hottest in WWE this year even though the two men have yet to have a singles match.

They did meet in the Royal Rumble when McIntyre gave Punk a Future Shock DDT that led to Punk suffering a torn triceps, but Punk overcame that to toss McIntyre from the Rumble and finish as the runner-up to Cody Rhodes.

Even though Punk has been out of action for five months, he has exchanged words with McIntyre on WWE television and on social media. Drew McIntyre hasn’t let up with his insults towards Punk whether he’s making fun of Punk’s injury or his win-loss record in the UFC (Punk was 0-2 in the UFC).

In a dark match after WWE SmackDown in Albany, Raw’s Jey Uso faced Drew McIntyre in singles action. Before the match, McIntyre did a promo where he insulted Punk while also admitting that he would give Punk a title match if Drew became champion again.

“When I win the title, I’ll offer him a title match. His ego is so big, he will say ‘yes’ to the title match, social media will freak out, tickets will fly, there will be a buzz you’ve never seen. Punk and I will be in this ring, eye to eye with each other. The bell will ring, and then I’ll embarrass him worse than be embarrassed himself in the UFC and we’ll move on.”

If you’re wondering, the match between Jey and Drew ended in a disqualification when Drew did a blatant low blow kick. After the kick, Jey got the revenge with a superkick and Spear to send the fans home happy.

Drew McIntyre Challenging For World Heavyweight Title In Home Country

In two weeks, at the WWE Clash At The Castle PLE on June 15th, Drew McIntyre will get to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship – the biggest prize for male wrestlers on the Raw brand. It’s a title that McIntyre held for about five minutes at WrestleMania 40 when he decided to insult CM Punk. After Punk tripped McIntyre on the commentary table, Priest cashed in Money in the Bank on McIntyre to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

The Clash at the Castle PLE is taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, which is McIntyre’s home country, so the crowd should be solidly behind one of WWE’s biggest villains.

As for his future, Drew McIntyre recently re-signed with WWE on a massive deal believed to be about three years in length.
