Drew McIntyre Breaks Silence After Getting Buried Again At WWE WrestleMania 42
Drew McIntyre has reacted to his WrestleMania 42 loss to Jacob Fatu.
Wrestling fans rallied behind The Scottish Psychopath after watching him lose several high-stakes matches in 2025, especially to Cody Rhodes.
This led to him finally beating the American Nightmare during the January 9 episode of SmackDown to win the Undisputed WWE Championship in a 3 Stages of Hell match.
Fans were also excited about seeing him main event WrestleMania 42 by entering his match as the champion.
However, his reign lasted only 56 days when Rhodes defeated him on the March 6 taping of the blue brand to become Undisputed Champion for a third time.
As a result, he also replaced Drew McIntyre at The Showcase of the Immortals. As for Drew, he reignited his feud with Jacob Fatu, who had interfered during the 3 Stages of Hell match, inadvertently costing Rhodes the match and the title.
In October last year, Fatu was found laid out backstage in a pool of his own blood, with some of his teeth on the floor.
While Fatu believes the assailant to be McIntyre, the 40-year-old wrestler has claimed innocence. WWE, meanwhile, has yet to revisit the subject to unveil the real perpetrator.
In 2026, Drew McIntyre’s feud with Jacob Fatu touched upon Fatu’s criminal past, as the Scot constantly brought up his prison time to get a psychological advantage.
Drew McIntyre Shares His Thoughts After WrestleMania 42 Loss
Following weeks of impromptu fights between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made an unsanctioned match official between them for WrestleMania 42.
During the bout, both superstars utilized every piece of equipment available at their disposal, including chairs, tables, a toolbox, a wrench, and a leather belt.
The fight was contested inside the ring as well as outside, as no rules applied to it except that the outcome of the match could only be decided by a pinfall or a submission.
Despite relinquishing the advantage, Jacob Fatu fought back in the closing minutes by hitting Drew with a couple of superkicks. He then hit the Scotsman in the head with the toolbox, which led to him collapsing on top of the table laid out in the ring.
Fatu then executed his picture-perfect finisher, Mighty Moonsault, for the successful pinfall.
Following another high-stakes loss, McIntyre took to X to share his thoughts. His meme-style reaction comprised a video clip that showed an esports athlete crying intensely while gulping down some form of liquid before being stopped by another person.

McIntyre’s tweet summarizes the reaction of the members of the WWE Universe who have backed him throughout the years despite his heel on-screen persona.
It remains to be seen what direction his character takes when the first SmackDown episode after WrestleMania tapes from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 24.
