Major Doubt On Roman Reigns’ Imminent WWE Return
Roman Reigns might not be back on WWE TV as quickly as some fans might have expected.
WWE sent out a syndicated TV listing for an upcoming episode, but they mistakenly used a Raw write‑up as the listing for SmackDown. That Raw listing included two lines: one about Maxxine Dupri recovering from her loss to Becky Lynch, and another that explicitly said, “Roman Reigns returns.” But it might not be as simple as that.
Roman Reigns has not competed in WWE since Survivor Series, when his team came up short in WarGames. Reigns is expected to be back for the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, but his WrestleMania 42 plans might have drastically changed.
Roman Reigns Not On WWE SmackDown?
Speaking about the mix-up on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that while other things seemed to have been true, he does not believe Roman Reigns will be back on that show:
I don’t think Roman’s on the show next week or else they’d have advertised it. But everything else on that crawl for SmackDown ended up on that show, so that’s probably where the screw up was. It was talking about Maxxine Dupri going after Becky Lynch for the championship.
That was on the TV crawl for SmackDown on Friday; it also said that Roman Reigns returns, but I don’t think he’s returning this week. I mean, he could be, but if he was returning, why would you not advertise it? Maybe there’s some angle that they’re gonna do, but whatever angle they were gonna do has probably changed anyway.
