Darby Allin Appears To Call Out CM Punk On AEW Dynamite

In a shocking backstage segment on the July 28th edition of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin appeared to take aim at CM Punk!

Rumours have been swirling non-stop in recent days and weeks, and fans have been given the clearest indication yet, that the self proclaimed ‘Best In The World’ may be AEW bound.

Tony Schiavone arrived on the ramp, to give the big AEW live event announcement. Schiavone then revealed that AEW Rampage would be heading to Chicago and the United Center on August 30th for the ‘First Dance.’

The announcement was sound tracked by huge CM Punk chants from the packed house in Charlotte, North Carolina.

To add further fuel to the CM Punk shaped fire, Darby Allin appeared to call out the former WWE Champion after the announcement.

Speaking backstage, Allin said that he’d be in Chicago, adding that AEW is the place that wrestlers come to prove themselves.

“I’ll be in Chicago. You know I’ve been around a lot of men in this world that have laid claim to how they’re the greatest, and there’s only one place to really prove that. Right here in AEW. Even if you think you’re the best in the world.”

It was first reported by Fightful Select on July 21st that former WWE Champion CM Punk was looking to end his seven-year hiatus from wrestling by joining AEW. Punk has not wrestled since the 2014 Royal Rumble, famously walking out of WWE the very next night.

A follow up report added that AEW’s interest in Punk goes back over a year.

Punk is not the only former WWE Champion seemingly destined to become All Elite. Daniel Bryan has also recently been reported to be connected with AEW, with some saying that Bryan has already inked his deal with the company.
