Rey Mysterio Shares Positive Injury Update
Rey Mysterio has been away from in-ring action since April 2025.
He was injured during a SmackDown episode, ultimately resulting in his WrestleMania 41 match being called off. It was recently revealed that he had suffered a busted eardrum and a torn groin.
The former world champion shared a positive update on his injury during an interview with La Platica when he was asked about the recovery process.
Good, pretty good. Yeah, man. I started my [physical therapy]. Not to mention, I had a busted eardrum as well, so I fixed that during my time off. I’m on the road to recovery. I should be back hopefully by August.
He also detailed how the injury situation came about.
I stepped in the ring, the guy that I was wrestling stood in front of me, he bailed out the ring underneath the bottom rope and I went to chase him. And when I pushed off with my left leg, I just heard a [tear].” Like, ‘That’s it? I tore my groin like that?’
Yeah, usually it happens on the simplest sh*t. But with all the stuff that I do, you would always think that it’s something crazy. No, it’s always the opposite. Always the small stuff.
Mysterio went on to share that his retirement was close, although he was enjoying his time in the ring.
